Anyone else qualified as a primary school teacher and unemployed?

I qualified in May as a teacher and cannot for the life of me, get a interview. I must have filled out over 20 application forms for a September post with no luck and now have eight application forms for January starts.

I’m an assistant head at an inner city primary school and spend a lot of time not interviewing people based on their application forms!
Some reasons:
1) Are you applying for very good schools where there will be many applicants, when I left my old school for promotion 80 people applied for my job (Wasn’t open to NQTs) so clearly 79 people didn’t get it! Don’t shy away from “rougher” areas, my experience is that these children love you even more as even the naughty ones would rather be with you than in their normal life! And we ALWAYS need staff!
2) Have you asked anyone to check your forms? Spelling/ grammar etc gets you put straight in the bin!
3) Are you answering the job description? Schools expect your form tailored to their job spec/advert. Don’t make it too generic, it’s a dead give away that you are applying to lots of schools.
4) Have a look round the schools, we keep a list of people who visited and bare that in mind when looking at their forms.
5) You mentioned you and your final TP school didn’t get on well, I assume they are a reference, ask to see it, by law it can’t be negative but it would be interesting to se what they have said.
6) Call a school that you didn’t get an interview for or didn’t get the job after an interview and ask for feedback, you can use this to get better!
