While games like chess and backgammon are effective in developing strategic thinking, kids can easily find themselves bored with these board games. Fun math games for kids prove to be more appropriate methods of developing strategic thinking among young ones. These fun math games may be less complex but they help much in making kids think strategically.

Corners is an ideal math game for two players. Kids can easily learn this game and the time they need to spend playing this game is significantly shorter than the amount of time they would need to spend on playing chess or backgammon.

Sprouts is another fun math game that kids can enjoy. Kids might find this game very simple but it can become quite challenging. To play sprouts, each player needs to take turns to draw a curve line to link two dots and then placing another dot somewhere along the line they have drawn.  However, no line can cross another line and no dot can have more than three lines leaving it.

There are many other fun math games that kids can play to develop strategic thinking. Corners and sprouts are only two of fun math games for kids that can be played in various situations – they can play it on paper, on the blackboard or through the use of a personal computer. They can also play it inside or outside the classroom. What is important is they are able to practice thinking strategically while playing.
