style does not matter, only wondering about what looks better. the white or yellow gold

THANKS!
The Stone is going to be Red

I always think gold is gaudy, but class rings are supposed to be gaudy. The idea of ‘white gold’ is dumb because it’s like adding the spirit of wealth to silver, which is a nice enough metal on its own, and it’s adding softness to an already soft metal. Gold doesn’t tarnish as easily as silver, but the ring you’ve got there looks electroplated, and if the choice is between plated and solid, I’d go for the ‘white gold’ because solid will look better in the long run than plated. Then again, our planetary resources are finite, and until we have asteroid mining and/or nanobots, the alloying of metals is not something that I think it is wise to support as a consumer. But most gold these days is less than 24-carat anyway. If you have dark skin, gold will look better on it than it does on light skin, but most colors look better on brown than tan anyway. On final analysis, the block lettering and black background of a class ring really goes better with the idea of a big gold ring than it does a big silver ring. Silver is for delicacy and reflection of beauty, but gold honors the subject while drawing attention to it. Go for the gold.
