High School Cap And Gowns

The graduation ceremony is a cultural tradition that is considered a rite of passage. The ceremony marks the transition from one stage in the life of one student to another. Arnold van Gennep coined the phrase "rite of passage" in 1909 and believes that the rite of passage included the following three steps:
1. The separation of society 2. Inculcation of the transformation, 3. Back to society in the new state.
So what's the story behind the graduation ceremonies, robes and caps?
The "rite of passage" Graduation Day
The Baccalaureate Ceremony is considered the beginning of "rite of passage". Some schools include the Baccalaureate Ceremony with the actual Graduation Ceremony, while others held two separate events together. For the purposes of brevity, I to explain the first.
The start of graduation ceremonies usually begin with speeches from the speakers or special faculty, which may include current students and music. After the names of the graduates were called one by one as "Pomp and Circumstance" is traditionally played. Not all ceremony continues this tradition.
"Pomp and Circumstance" was composed by Sir Edward Elgar (b. 6/2/1857 d. 2.26.1934). "Pomp and Circumstance" was released on 19 October 1901 in Liverpool, England. When students begin at the stage where diplomas are delivered and given a handshake. It is at this point the students flip the tassels on their hats.
The origin of the Baccalaureate ceremony is said to date back to 1432. The first ceremony began with the Baccalaureate University of Oxford. At that time each student is required to give a sermon in Latin as part of its academic applications. Cap and gown. What is the meaning and where did they come?
What we now call a "cap" which is used by students and teachers in some cases, used to be called "hood". The "bell" is believed to date back to Celtic groups. At that moment in history only the Druid priests wore coats with hoods, symbolizing their superiority and greater intelligence. Today, the "bell" or "cap" is used to identify the student's academic institution and degree. The tassel attached (and sometimes the color of the cap and gown or scarf) is used to signify the student's academic achievement within the academic structure.
Before the 1950s, the graduation gown color was gray. This is done only in the colors of the U.S. in European countries is already used in the 1800s to indicate the study area. Sometime during the 1950s, students began asking for the cap and gowns that represented their school colors. His wish was granted and the appearance of different colors used for gowns caught.
During the 12th and 13th centuries was born academic dress for graduation. At that time the dress for faculty or students dress in office. It was not until 1321 that the University of Coimbra decided that all doctors, BA, and graduates would be required wear dresses.
So here's the basic history of Graduation Day and the ceremonial dress used. Please remember to stay safe. The number students who are just beginning their journey into life diminishes greatly on graduation night. Why? Drinking and driving are a deadly mix and many people higher graduation and others are killed during the "celebration".
Graduation Day
All the dreams that have come and gone, and all the memories that live on and on. High School days we thought would last forever, all the time we thought we'd be together. Time seemed to slip and then disappear, now is the day of graduation. So many times we laugh and share, many times we said I love you and me. Happiness, sadness and abundance fights, all these things were wrapped into one and more. Time seemed to slip and then disappear, now is the day of graduation. So many times we wonder whether remember what we learned, credits, honors and scholarships that we won. The trips, the sneak days, cutting a class, because all these years we thought that never happens. Time seemed to slip, and then disappear, now is the day of graduation. And so, my friends want to dedicate this to you, for good and sad there have been some of the same. The tears streak down my face, memories of the stay, because now my friends, is the day of graduation. Jaci Rae – Right Copyright
