Help with 8th grade math please?

How can I find and graph the slope of x+2? I didn’t understand the lesson in class today and my parents are at work. Thank you!

The slope is whatever fraction comes before x. In this case, it’s 1, or 1/1. Remember this phrase: “Rise over run.” That means that the top number of the slope (the numerator) is the number of spaces the slope goes up, and the bottom number (the denominator) is the number of spaces the slope moves to the right.

So in this case, for every one space the slope moves up, it also moves one space to the right. If your slope was 2/1, it would move two spaces up for every one space to the right. If it was 1/2, it’d be one space up for every two to the right.

The +2 in your equation simply means that instead of crossing the y axis (the vertical axis) at 0, it will intersect it at y = 2 (two spaces up from where x and y cross).

So your graph will look like this: the line will slope one space up for every one space it moves to the right, and it will cross the vertical axis at y = 2.
