Why do those in power reduce only high profile gov’t services?

Cutting teacher salaries, cutting classroom supplies, closing neighborhood swimming pools ! These superficial cuts are nothing compared to the $150,000 salaries of school superintendents, mayors, and county planners. Wouldn’t it make more real impact to cut those salaries, do away with some of the bureaucrat positions, delay the $million Astroturf high school fields, buy $300 camcorders instead of $3000 HD camcorders ? Gov’t has no competition – someone needs to be a watchdog !
