Academic Hood Colors
The academic dress of China has a long history. The ancient dress is based on the costumes of officials and the "degrees" won through the imperial examinations in public administration, while the modern dress is based on the western (U.S. only) academic dress.

This basically consists of a long round of red neck tunic with long sleeves called yuanlingshan (???) use with a cap called putou (¿?), which was almost always black and had the wings of curves typical of the Tang Dynasty. Other dynasties had dress similar to their own interpretation of it, but basically follows the same pattern and distinctive dress are common.
Another way of dressing was the existence of the literati and scholars who wore simple dress, but wore hats every day, which clearly indicates their condition, such as if-Fang Jin Pingding.
More modern West now that the current Chinese academic dress is very different from the old form. Current forms have been standardized since 1994. [1] gowns are closed at the front and color depending on the grade level, usually black for bachelors, masters and blue for a combination of red and black for doctoral gowns. The bell is a simple piece of cloth that is triangluar color depending on the faculty. The cap is similar to the U.S., except where they have rope in the back of the skull cap to tie and secure the top of the head.
